ETHNORAA BY RK began with a simple idea: that the motifs of Indian craft — the peacock, the lotus, the palace jaali — deserve a place in a modern wardrobe. Each design in our studio starts as a drawing, is refined for proportion and balance, and is finished to sit quietly against silk, linen or wool. We work from Raopura in Vadodara, and we are as happy advising on a single lapel pin as on accessories for a whole wedding party.
Drawn, then refined
Every motif starts as a drawing. We redraw it for proportion until it reads clearly at 25 millimetres, which is where most of our pieces live.
Made for wearing
Weight, clasp placement and edge finishing matter more than ornament. A brooch that pulls at silk is a brooch that stays in the box.
Heritage without costume
We borrow the grammar of Indian ornament rather than reproducing it — so the pieces sit as easily on a blazer as on a bandhgala.
